Blackjack is a popular choice, especially because it is the among the few card games with great odds. It is then natural to try to find out quick info on how to play blackjack and handy blackjack beginner advice. If your objective is the same, below outlined details are definite to help.

About the game

As the first blackjack beginner advice, it is suggested that a general overview of the game be well read. Though you might have seen friends play, however finding appropriate answers to all ifs and buts is essential.

The game has many variations, but the objective is same. The player who hits a total of twenty one or the closest lower, without going over wins. For the totaling purposes, all cards are not treated equivalent to their numerical value. Ace can be equal to eleven or one and face cards i.e. jack, queen and king, are all equivalent to ten. The remaining cards assume their natural values. Each player in Blackjack, including the dealer, is dealt two cards. All are playing against the dealer and therefore chances of more than one player winning in the same round are positive.

As stated, the idea is to reach a total close to or equal to twenty one and this can naturally happen if the cards are an ace and any of the face card. This and related sequences are referred to as natural blackjack. For a natural blackjack, you shall be immediately paid. If the dealer has a natural blackjack, he collects all bets and if the dealer and a player are in the same situation, none pays or collects. The last condition is also known as standoff. And by the way, please note that when dealt, dealer's one card would be face up and for you and other players, both cards would be face down.

Moving beyond the natural circumstances, if none have a total of twenty one, players ask for a hit from the dealer. In this case, player sweeps his card and each new card is placed face up. The total gets added with each hit, until the player busts (i.e. exceeds the added value of 21) or willingly stops asking for further hits.

Blackjack beginner advice...when to stand and when to hit

Now that the game is more or less clear, it is time for some serious beginner blackjack advice. If you've understood the game well, it must be comprehensible that if the total is close to 21 and dealer has a considerably lower score, say 9 or 10, standing up makes sense; because the dealer, in an attempt to match will probably lose or bust. On the contrary, if you are 10 or lower, hit because chances of busting are low. For total between 11 and 16, the advice to stand to hit, depends largely upon dealer's total. If his face up card is between 2 and 7, the risk to stand is worth it. For higher numbers, hit is advised.
